Green from left side
|
The first hole reveals many of the characteristics that are typical of Branton Woods:
open fairways with traps and angles that are strategically placed to penalize errant shots and
overly aggressive play, ample rough that allows recovery from minor mistakes and solid fairways
and approaches that reward well placed shots.
The bunkers on the left and right half way along the fairway will catch long shots that are
not dead on. Shorter drives or the common fade may stay out of the trap but give you a long way
to get home over the bunkers protecting the right side of the green. A second shot faded in along
the left side can provide a safer way in but may leave you with a very long putt depending upon
the pin position. The green is again typical of Branton Woods: large and fast with subtle breaks often
right around the cup.
